Applications
Representative drug-device applications include steroid-eluting pacing and defibrillation leads, drug-eluting stents and balloons, antimicrobial catheters, and wound or joint spacers. ProMed also supports pharmaceutical companies developing extended-release formulations utilizing subcutaneous implants, intrauterine devices, vaginal rings, and ophthalmic implants. Typical active pharmaceutical ingredients encountered include hormones, microbicides, and other small molecules.

Molded Components
Silicones have a well-established history of use in implantable devices, combination products, and solid implants. At ProMed, we have leveraged over 25 years of manufacturing experience with silicones to provide a wide range of drug-eluting components. Partnerships with leading suppliers give us access to world-class implantable materials and expertise to ensure the safety and performance of your product. ProMed is working to expand the range of molded drug-eluting material offerings to include PMMA (poly(methyl methcacrylate)), EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate), and PEEK (Polyhether ether ketone) as well as resorbable materials such as PLGA (poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)).
